Getting Detailed Info on your PC in Windows
There are several ways to get the information about your PC however most of these are in different locations of Windows and can take time to gather all of it together.

On Windows XP , vista and 7, a command called systeminfo can give you detailed information about your PC.

To run systeminfo click on Start then Run and in the Run open: prompt type in cmd. If your running Windows Vista or 7 then in the search box on the Start Menu type in Run and the program will appear in the menu, click on this to get to the Run box.N.B.If there is anything in this box already, this will need deleting first before continuing.
A window should appear something similar to this:

Command Prompt Window

At the prompt type systeminfo and press return ,this will then start checking the PC and return with a list of information. Most of this information will not be visible as on some PCs there is a lot to show. However, this can be seen by moving  the scroll bar on the right hand side of this window up to view all of the information.

This program can also output the information in a file format which can be read in via a spreadsheet program. Systeminfo will create a file in a comma separated format (CSV) which is readable in most spreadsheet programs. To create this file type systeminfo /fo csv >sys.csv ,this will create a file called sys.csv and will contain the output of the PCs details in a format that then can be opened in programs such as MS Excel and openoffice.
